Harbour mouth sunset

There is obviously an element of luck involved in being in the right place at the right time to capture moments like this but every successful landscape photographer must also become a good weather forecaster and know where to go to make the best of conditions long before they arrive.

I fiddled around for an age with this composition looking to achieve the best position for the two light towers, hand rail and horizon to become balanced within the frame. Then it was just a matter of waiting for the subtle cloud shapes to drift into just the right place. The pastel colours of sunset that evening could not have been better.
