Autumn Pines, Loch Tulla
Autumn Pines, Loch Tulla

The first image that I saw of this view was by the landscape photographer Joe Cornish. His version was in an upright or portrait orientation beautifully shot into the sun with trees silhouetted and the bottom half of the picture taken up with the large and shapely leaves of bracken.

I made a conscious effort to make an altogether different image to Joe's wanting to include a wider scene including the two islands of trees. It wasn't possible to get both in one capture so this is actually two images stitched together in Photoshop.

This brief moment of sunlight on all the trees lasted just a few seconds in a day of cloud. Importantly the hills behind are still in shadow helping to separate the sunlit elements giving an added dimension.
